Many of our customers have asked us for some proactive ideas for improving Indoor Air Quality. If indoor air quality (IAQ) problems are left untreated, the worst outcome could be Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). Most facilities or buildings will never experience SBS, but many of the symptoms could be present to some extent without proactive treatment. SBS has been described as present when 25 % or more occupants exhibit symptoms of nausea, headaches, sore throats, dry or itchy skin, dizziness, sinus congestion, or excessive fatigue and these symptoms last more than two weeks. Step 1: Coil Cleaning AmCool 8100 (Alkaline Coil Cleaner) This is a blend of high performance alkaline detergents and penetrants designed for heavy duty degreasing, cleaning and brightening of condenser and evaporator coils, fins, and other equipment surfaces. This product may be diluted 20 to 1 with water for light cleaning. You need not rinse since this product is free rinsing, it is condensate rinseable on evaporator coils. Surfactants used in this product are biodegradable. In addition, you will help your customers, because the units that are cleaned will be more efficient. The energy saved will more than pay for the labor and costs of chemical cleaning. AmCool 8900 (Acid Coil Cleaner) This is a blend of high performance acid detergents for heavy duty cleaning of water scale deposits and the material that is trapped in the deposit; such as, dirt, lint, greases, and oils. This product can also be diluted with water up to 20 parts water to 1 part CW-8900. After cleaning the coils, fins or other metal surfaces with deposits, this product should be rinsed off of the metal surfaces. Step 2: Pan Strips AmCool 5806 (Pan Strips) These are put in the air conditioning condensate drain pan to keep the drain open and to deodorize the air. These strips can last three to six months (depending on the condensate flow) so you should plan on a minimum of two sales per year/unit. In a 100 room hotel, you are looking at 200 pan strips per year or approximately 17 dozen or approximately $ 1000.00 to $ 2000.00 additional revenue in and existing customer. The used pan strips may be disposed of along with the everyday trash. Just remember to wash your hands after handling. For the big, hard to clean coils or heat exchangers that have a very tenacious scale or encrustations, give us a call for specific recommendations. |
